As a child, my brother and I enjoyed building with LEGO bricks and elements. During high school, I had a separate LEGO Room in my parents home, that included hanging aircraft and trains that led from one room to another. During college and courtship, I built LEGO models and towns sporadically and even visited the home of The Lego Company in Billund, Denmark, where the first Legoland Theme Park is located.
After getting married, I discovered LEGO on eBay and then on various sites, including: lugnet.com, brickset.com, bricklink.com, MOCpages.com, lionsgatemodels.com, eurobricks.com, brickshelf.com, NILTC.org, brickworld.us, and of course, legoshop.com. This started a furious effort to rebuild my collection and create grander and more elaborate schemes.
In 2004, my family and I attended our first LEGO show. It was sponsored by the Northern Illinois Lego Train Club. This event was an eye-opener for sure. Here were adults, like me, enjoying LEGO to the max. I discovered that the AFOL (Adult Fans of LEGO) community exceeds 30,000 enthusiasts worldwide... I suspect that there are thousands more. Presently, my young sons enjoy LEGO and my wife is very, very patient with all the little pieces all over our home : )

Here are some
photos of my favorite show/convention LEGO set-ups.
